Ah, I adore this family!  I have known Amy for about 6 months now as she was my boudoir client first.  She has since become a dear, dear friend with a golden heart and the family to match!  She spoke so highly of her husband and daughter from the very first time I met her and through other clients she has brought my way (both friends and family), no one has ever had a bad thing to say about them – so to say I was excited to meet them is an understatement!

Our session was actually rained out 3 weeks in a row and then Amy and her daughter Hannah got into a horrible wreck.  They were still willing to go through with the shoot but after rain threatened to ruin it anyway, we decided it was best to wait one more week.  After all, they were black and blue and swollen with bruises and who wants memories of that?

I was not disappointed one bit when I showed up at the barn the day of their shoot.  The shoot took place on her mother in-law’s farm in Winston Salem and the location and weather was perfect.  Her husband was just a studly and sweet and kind as she claimed him to be and her daughter Hannah was soft spoken and so, so beautiful!  Jade drove in from Greensboro to do Amy’s makeup and we all sat in the barn, surrounded by horses, young girls riding everywhere and talked and laughed.   And laughed.  And laughed.  This family loves to laugh and I have to say, laughing is one of my most favorite simple pleasures!

Amy, thank you SO much for introducing me to your amazing family and they were everything and more you had built them up to be.  You guys are such an inspiration to families everywhere and I really had a blast on your shoot!  Even when Devi swore your Jeep was made to go through the woods on a 4 wheeler path and I had to sit on your lap,  bumping heads because of the rocks and potholes – I still had a blast.  I adore yall!

This is how Amy and Devi looked at each other the entire day.  LOVE it!

Hannah asked if she could have her horse, Will, in some of the photos.  I was so excited and of course I LOVED the idea!  Aren’t they beautiful?

LOVE this look on Amy’s face.  When she talks about Devi and you picture them together, this is what you see.

So here we are, a thick white blanket of snow on the ground and everything else.  As much as I wish for snow each year, I was kind of hesitant for this one to come in.  I have a bridal shoot scheduled for tomorrow that has been in the works for almost a month.  At the last minute, everything fell into place to make this such an epic shoot.  The location I booked, the props I rented from a local theatre, booking my amazing makeup artist, and the wonderful bride herself that contacted me about the shoot.  And now?  Now we have a foot of snow (and counting) to shoot in.

I will go into more details in the actual post with photos from the shoot about where and who I booked with and the lovely people that have helped make this all possible.  For now, though – why not snap away some shots of how beautiful North Carolina looks this evening, covered in powder and in a stillness only snow can offer.  I headed out covered head to toe in fleece, my camera wrapped in a plastic Target bag, snow and wind whipping at my face, just to capture a little bit of the beauty Mother Nature has to offer.

Wish us luck on our shoot tomorrow and for safe travels for everyone.  We are determined to make this work for us instead of against us – and hopefully everyone will have a blast in the meantime.  Until then, enjoy these few snapshots I took this evening.

The sunlight is finally coming out again after some gloomy October weather.  I love the little bits and pieces all around with colors flowing in.

Last week I got quite the email that made me chuckle.  It was from a lovely young lady explaining that she was turning 30 and would love to have a personalized lifestyle/anytime shoot with me.  She exclaimed that she wanted to get this shoot done before she got any older and fatter.  It wasn’t until the second email that I found out she was actually coming over from the United Kingdom!  She was coming to North Carolina to visit with her parents for her birthday, then flying to New York at the end of the week and then back home to the UK.

We met up Wednesday afternoon in down town Winston Salem.  She was, by no means, as old or “fat” as she had mentioned.  She was an absolute delight and just as silly and fun to be around as her emails made her out to be.  We chatted just like we were old friends and I had a lot of fun hanging out with her on our shoot.  My dear friend Sterling came along to assist and it was like we were all playing dress-up and laughing as little girls.  This is just one of the many reasons I love what I do.  Not to mention being able to meet and connect with people from all around the world.

The sun is setting fast here in the evenings, so I was so excited that she was accommodating enough to meet back up Thursday evening to do the second part of our shoot before she headed up to New York.  After the shoot, I met her mother whom was just as lovely.  What an amazing family – so down to earth and fun.

Happy Birthday, Marie.  You are beyond beautiful and full of life for 30 years young.  Thank you so much for contacting me and giving me so much of your time while you were visiting NC.  These photos can only reflect so much of the amazing person you are, so classy and a beautiful soul – but I hope I did them justice.

This was seriously the first photo I took of Marie.  How classy does she look?!

Yummy evening sunlight.

She called this her “Va-Va-Voom Dress”.  I think it’s the perfect name.

These were taken the following evening in a more classy gown.  I loved the purple!

Does she not look like she’s right out of a fairytale?

I love it when a client will trust me as the photographer, even when they feel silly.  I love these next two captures.  I feel like it really shows the spirit of the lovely woman I got to know for just two short days.
