Last week, I had the pleasure of shooting my friend and fellow photographer, Heather Smith’s maternity session. This shoot marked her 33rd week carrying her and her husband’s baby girl. She is an artist herself, so we wanted to play that up, with fun poses and offbeat maternity photos.
Heather has been a source of inspiration for a few years now. Her quiet nature, positive spirit and attitude radiate all around her. She is a creative soul that glows greatness from the inside out. We have worked together quite a few times, and I never underestimate what we can make happen by the end of our shoots. She’s up for anything, we collaborate our ideas and the end result is usually better than either of us expected.
“This would be totally awkward and wrong, if I wasn’t pregnant”, she said. We stepped out onto the front porch of an old carriage maker’s house in down town Winston Salem, and she was wearing nothing but a bathing suit, shirt and heels. It was rush hour, people were driving by and we had to laugh.
Heather, Congratulations again to you and Bryan, and thank you so much for letting me have the opportunity to capture this special time for you. I cannot wait to meet her, and I just know you’re going to be the best parents ever!
I love Heather’s sense of style and great collection of cool hats!

Easily one of my most favorite photos I’ve ever shot.

Such a classic beauty.

I love this set – it’s SO her!

We finished off right at sunset, and the light was so yummy.
