Booger
April 26, 2008 | Filed in: Animals, Personal update, Photos

This is my cat, Booger. She is 15 years old and the apple of my eye. Yes, I am one of “those” crazy cat ladies.I got Booger when she was about 2 weeks old and I was 8. My father had taken my sister and I to put flowers on our grandparents grave and then we drove to another to put flowers on his brother’s grave. When we got out we heard a tiny kitten sound and when I looked under the van, there she was.

Booger and I became best friends. We have a bond that I have never, ever experienced with another animal and doubt I ever will again. We read each other and that connection was only between us. When my father became too ill to work and began staying home during the day, she started taking up with him a bit more. He took up for her like he never had another cat and I’m sure they shared their own special bond. She was there with him until the very end and now, I’m sure we are sharing the same loss for my father.

She’s getting quite old and it’s showing in her loss of hair and teeth. She’s pretty frail but still as tough on the inside and responsive and loyal as ever. I took these photos of her today and cannot wait to have them framed and hung in my home. I see her every day, but she truly is a beautiful soul that I’m thankful for, and to me, these aren’t just any picture of a cat. They are photos of my best friend and I will treasure them forever.

OMG Stacey. These photos of Booger are just beautiful. Love the textures. Are they from Jesh de Rox?

She’s gorgeous and I love her name. This reminds me of how I feel about Tink. :) What beautiful photos you’ve got.

heart warming and wonderful!

The anticipated connection between the aged feline and her doting friend’s touch is palpable in the second photo. The aura surrounding it creates an instant tug at the heart of anyone with a special animal friend!
